Term Time Rectification of Calculation Method of Annual Leave Pay
Following concerns raised by UNISON and the GMB, it has come to light that some Councils across the country had miscalculated the payment of annual leave entitlement to its term-time employees. This means that the calculation of your annual leave whilst in employment with us was not in line with the National requirements as set out in the Green Book. For many term-time employees, this means that there has been some underpayment of salary. You have been identified as one those colleagues that have been underpaid. An ‘in-principal agreement’ with UNISON, GMB and UNITE. Your potential value of settlements will depend upon your individual contractual terms, however it will be a small percentage of the salary. We are currently working through what this means for current and ex-employees during the period from January 2016 to March 2021.
The compensation scheme is being run by the HR & OD Education Team and is closely working with a nominated person from each school. We will be offering a compensation package for the period from January 2016 until the end of your employment with the Council, subject to their agreement to a COT3 settlement via ACAS.
